About the event

How can musicians and other artists use the vast resources available in library archives to create new work? How do research and the creative process intersect?

Kronos Quartet founding violinist David Harrington joins Dartmouth librarians and a special guest librarian from the Library of Congress, where he did extensive research for Three Bones. In this roundtable discussion, the panelists talk about research, creativity, the role of librarians, ethical use of archival materials, and the use of library collections in teaching, learning and creating.

Participants:

David Harrington (founding violinist, Kronos Quartet)

Andrea Decker (Reference Librarian, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress)

Jay Satterfield (Head of Rauner Library Special Collections & Archives)
